From the Cenozaic to the Cretaceus to the Paleozoic to the modern era--this land has remained all but untouched by human hands over hundreds of millions of years. Only in the last 200 years has human cultivation made its small mark on this land, as a small outpost of civillzation was established in the lush Willamette Valley, a town called Salem was established, and in 1849 was made a part of the United States of America, the 48th state, with Salem as its Capital. Only in the late 1800s did this area begin to be cultivated and even then the human touch was benign blotch on a landscape untouched by human hands for millions of years. In fact, up until the year 2021, this land has been all but untouched by human hands... In fact, it has been land cultivated and nurtured and preserved until today, when a group of people propose to bulldoze its natural beauty into housing....
